Seminar on Bio-economy based entrepreneurship held

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology under ministry of Science and Technology organised a national seminar on "Bioeconomy based entrepreneurship development with biotechnological interventions" in collaboration with National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Prayagraj (Allahabad).
The programme was addressed by several dignitaries from the ministry including former DBT secretary Prof Manju Sharma and NASI's New Initiatives chairperson Prof Ajoy Ghatak, who is also the president of National Academy of Sciences.
During the programme, IBSD Imphal director Prof Pu-lok K Mukherjee highlighted various initiatives of IBSD for the development of bioeconomy from bioresources of Northeastern Region as Prof Manju Sharma stressed on the need for basic research on bioresources in IBSD and Mansarovar Global University, Bhopal VC Prof Arun Pandey highlighted about bioeconomy in Indian context.
Many eminent speakers including IASST, Guwahati director Prof Asish Mukherjee, IHBT Palampur director Dr Sanjay Kumar, CIMAP Luc know director Dr Prabodh Trivedi, Manipur University Prof GA Sunitibala Devi, IICT Hyderabad director Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, BCIL New Delhi MD Dr Purnima Sharma, Delhi University Prof Paramjit Khurana, ICAR DDG Dr TR Sharma, NBRI Lucknow director Dr SK Barik, BHU Prof Madhoolika Agarwal and IIT Guwahati Dr Latha Rangan participated in the event.
It was also attended by many scientists, research scholars of IBSD, Imphal and others, said an IBSD Imphal release.
