Imphal, October 14 2022:
The Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Employees Association (MTDCEA) has launched an indefinite cease work strike from today in protest against the State Cabinet's decision to re-engage a retired employee of Rural Engineering Department as Chief Engineer (CE) of MTDC Ltd for the fourth time in a row.
Staff of MTDC Ltd staged a demonstration today in front of the MTDC Ltd office located at Lamphelpat in this regard.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Maibam Milton, joint secretary, MTDCEA alleged that the State Cabinet's decision is a violation of the rights of MTDC Ltd employees.
He stated that MTDCEA will not accept the Cabinet decision and reasoned that the current CE-in charge at MTDC fulfils all criteria for the post of CE.
Claiming that an employee who has been re-engaged for three years cannot be re-engaged any further, he shared that the individual appointed by the State Cabinet had already been re-engaged three times in a row and appealed to the State Government to look into this matter.
Calling upon the Government to roll back the decision, he also highlighted the other demands of MTDCEA, namely, release of pending 20 months salary, appointment of vacant posts at the earliest from eligible employees, regularization of work charged employees and implementation of 7th pay scale.
MTDCEA will continue the cease work strike until all these demands are met, he maintained.
