Thoubal, April 30 2024:
Thoubal Amasung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) is set to observe May 3 as 'Manipuri Solidarity Day' to endorse the idea of a united Manipur and fight collectively against all forms of aggressors posing threat to the unity and integrity of the State.
A press note by TAKDAL convenor W Jotinkumar appealed to all to observe the day to show solidarity among the indigenous community in the State and pay homage to all the bravehearts who have made supreme sacrifice for the Motherland Manipur.
TAKDAL appealed to all the Manipuris to light a candle at their gates and National Highways to pay homage to the departed souls who were martyred in the course of the prevailing ethnic crisis which first erupted on May 3 last year.
The joint body of Thoubal and Kakching maintained that 'Manipur is in a turmoil since May 3, 2023 due to the proxy war waged by the Kuki narcoterrorists and illegal immigrants'.
The conflict has threatened the peaceful co-existence among the indigenous communities of the State and has impacted thousands of innocent lives.
Hundreds of precious lives have been lost, many remain untraceable till date, more than 60, 000 people have been rendered homeless and are compelled to take refuge in relief centres putting their lives and future at stake, TAKDAL remarked.
It went on to allege that 'the Government which ought to be safeguarding its people and to maintain law and order has been letting the violence and atrocities continue rather than paving paths for peace and reconciliation'.
The Government has failed completely, it remarked.
TAKDAL maintained that Meiteis are unable to go beyond Pallel, Awang Sekmai, Phabakchao Ikhai, New Keithelmanbi which is really unfortunate.
Due to the utter failure of the Government to maintain law and order in Manipur, the youths have been compelled to be in the forefront to protect the identity and integrity of their people and their land and the womenfolk have been in the streets day and night as warriors.
Amid the ongoing unrest and with no measures to restore peace and normalcy, the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024 has been conducted leading to a more chaotic situation, added the press note.
In view of all the above, TAKDAL stressed on the need of making concerted efforts to safeguard the unity of Manipur and the indigenous people and urged all to come together to observe Manipuri Solidarity Day to reaffirm their stand for the cause.
