59 rounded up for not having ILP pass

Imphal, October 14 2022:
The State police rounded up at least 59 non locals from different parts of Imphal West and Imphal East districts for staying in Manipur without possessing valid Inner Line Permits (ILPs) and imposed fines on them.
Out of 59 non locals arrested, as many as 37 of them were arrested by Porompat police from Hatta area in Imphal East alone while Singjamei police arrested 18 of them from Singjamei.
The remaining four were arrested by Wangoi police.
The 37 non locals arrested by Porompat police were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East to initiate summary trial and a charge sheet was submitted against them.
The Court on perusal of the charge sheet and after hearing the submission of the IO convicted the 37 non locals arrested by Porompat police and imposed a fine of Rs 500 each against them under Section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873 .
Similarly, Wangoi police also produced the four non locals who were arrested for not possessing ILPs before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal West I with a prayer for summary trial against them.
The Court also convicted all the four non locals and imposed a fine of Rs 500 each against them under Section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 .
On the other hand, a team of Singjamei police produced the 18 non locals they arrested before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West and submitted a charge sheet for summary trial against them.
The Court on perusal of the charge sheet and after hearing the submission of the IO convicted the 18 non locals and imposed a fine of Rs 500 each to 13 of them and Rs 200 each to the remaining five of them under Section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 .
