Interaction programme with assisted children under Project Assist of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India was held at DRDA Hall, Senapati.
It was attended by RS Tripathi, DDO, NFCH; Sanjay Gupta, Senior Officer, GAIL; Apuo Khongsai, Under Secretary, Home Affairs, Government of India; Robin Singh, BJP national executive member; SC Morcha and parents/guardians of the beneficiaries.
The NFCH is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The major activity of the foundation is to implement programmes and projects for effective rehabilitation of child victims of communal, caste, ethnic, terrorist and any other form of violence/clashes which fractured social harmony.

Project Assist being the flagship scheme of the foundation, 80 percent of the foundation's manpower and financial resources are deployed on this project.
The project is reportedly funded by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
In Manipur, a total of 3,325 children have been assisted in 10 districts by NFCH, spending about 22.72 Crore as on September 30, 2022 .
They constitute about 24 percent of the total number of children covered nationwide by NFCH.
Out of 3,325 assisted children in Manipur, 1,613 have come out of the scheme after attaining 25 years of age and 1,712 children are still on the live register, in case they are pursuing studies.
The said scheme is reportedly operated through district administrations where the assistance is linked to academic session and released on receipt of complete proposal from the district authority.
For Senapati district, there are reportedly 1,116 children assisted with 7 out of the scheme and 1,109 are on live register till September 30 last.
