Kuki trio apprehended with explosive materials

Imphal, April 29 2024:
A team of 22 Assam Rifles apprehended three persons belonging to the Kuki community from an area between Twichamphai and Motbung under Saparmeina police station in Kangpokpi district on Monday morning.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Paolenmang Samte (36) son of Neikholhing of K Phoibi village, Lunminthang Singsit (31) son of Khuplam Singsit of Bolen village, and Seiginlen Kipgen (30) son of late Kaichon Kipgen of Songpi village.
The AR team also seized 500 gram of explosive powders and two suspected explosive ammunition from their possession.
Sources said that the AR team launched an operation based on inputs about transportation of arms in the area.
They intercepted one suspicious looking man, who upon questioning revealed the identity of his two accomplices.
Based on his disclosure, the AR team carried out search operation in Motbung area and rounded up the two accomplices along with the explosive materials from a house.
All three along with the explosive materials have been handed over to Saparmeina police station, where a case has been registered against them.
Mention may be made that suspected Kuki militants damaged a bridge on NH-2 between Saparmeina and Koubru Laikha on the intervening night of April 23 and 24 using explosives.
The sabotage operation left three large craters on the bridge rendering it unusable for normal traffic.
