Develop Mt Kisha as tourist spot: Magulong residents

Residents of Magulong under Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district have appealed to the Manipur government authorities for developing Mount Kisha as a proper tourist spot of the state.
Speaking to this daily, Magulong Village Authority member Heilu Disuang pointed out that Mt Kisha is a beautiful spot for tourists with high potential.
However, the path to the peak is very difficult for visitors and village volunteers to trek, he said and appealed to the authority concerned to construct a footpath up to the peak of Mount Kisha.
He also informed that freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu used the rock cave atop Mt Kisha as her hiding place as well as headquarters during her fight against British colonial rule.
At the entrance, there is still testimony of the bunker guard constructed with stone wherein her sepoys guarded her camp from any intrusion to the cave.
He also informed that the village authority had banned jhuming in the vicinity of the village and also banned hunting and felling of trees to protect the natural ecosystem of the area.
