Kakching, January 10 2023:
MAHUD minister Y Khemchand inaugurated Kakching Municipal Council's Moramba Solid Waste Management site located at Kakching Moramba on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, minister Khemchand pointed out that Municipal Council/Municipal Corporation is the backbone of the state as different works and initiatives are taken up by the council.
However, it is not a depart ment and there is shortage of staff, he added.
It is unfortunate to witness that Kakching Municipal Council, which was once a leading council in cleanliness and even received awards, has not been performing now in terms of maintaining tidiness, he opined, while appealing to work for making the council a leading one again.
Though there is no budgetary allocation earmarked for MAHUD till date for construction of markets, construction of Kakching Keithel will be given first priority, he assured.
Pointing out that street vendors are selling their items on the roadsides not to build houses and own cars but to sustain their families, the minister appealed against harassing them and instead providing alternative space if there is any and if not, make temporary arrangements.
Four vehicles which will be used for collecting solid wastes from the households of Kakching were flagged off and litter bins distributed to the households as a part of the function.
