Imphal, January 10 2023:
Continuing their efforts of reaching out and helping old age homes, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and Nungthel Leima Nupi Lup, Top Siphai Makha Leikai extended edible items and blankets to Langol Old Age Home at Langol Ningthou Leikai on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang expressed that the act of providing edible items and winter clothes to the home residents is based on conveying affection of the elderly citizens.
Most of the inmates at the home have been born and brought up in this land and they are staying there not because of involvement in crimes or curse of the god, but due to circumstances.
They are there because of lack of love, compassion and support of their children, siblings and relatives, he continued.
Lamenting over neglect of elderly people by their children and relatives, he said that such act is against the age old discipline and traditions followed by the society towards elders.
It is high time that local clubs and meira paibi groups take up actions against those people who harass and kept their parents at old age home.
AMUCO vice president MM Thambou, Nungthel Leima Nupi Lup president Longjam Khomdonbi Devi and secretary Thingujam Kamala Devi among others were also present on the occasion.
