Dingo lays foundation for statue of Maharaj Gambhir

Social Welfare minister H Dingo laid the foundation stone for installation of a statue of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Kamranga village in Assam's Cachar district on the occasion of 189th death anniversary observance of the king organised by Awapali Khubham Ningshing Lup on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, the minister called for unity among the Manipuris even though they are settling in different parts of the country as well as abroad.
He called for understanding the history and working for the development of Manipuris along with highlighting the initiatives of the Biren government for renovating and redeveloping historical places.
Awapali Khubham Ningshing Lup, Kamranga president Saikhom Mani-mohan presided over the function which was also attended by MDC chairman Reena Singha, UCM consultative committee member Khomdram Ratan, Assam Manipuri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup president and Coordination Committee of Awapali Khubham Ningshing Lup chairperson Beni Mishra, GC College Silchar retired professor Th Babachandra, social worker from Jiribam Nameirakpam Budhachanda, UCM general secretary Ng Deba, UPF advisor L Jadumani, UCO Lakhipur, Cachar president Kh Kanta, social worker (Cachar) Tampakmayum Kamal Uddin and Udharbon ZP member Bijeta Mahato as guests of honour.
