Imphal, January 10 2023:
Just as global football governing body FIFA imposes ban on federation or association of any country in case of intervention by third party, national federation may also impose ban on state federation in such cases, stated All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) president M Ratankumar.
In connection with nomination of KIYC for AIFF's Hero 2nd Division I-League, M Ratankumar said that AMFA recommended 14th Manipur State League-2020/21 champions KLASA Keinou, runners-up SSU and third position holders KIYC, Kshetrigao for AIFF's Hero 2nd Division I-League.
After forwarding the recommendation, AIFF informed AMFA on December 8, 2022 to send a team for the league after review.
As AMFA had no knowledge on whether 14th Manipur State League-2020-21 champions KLASA and runners up SSU violate AIFF norms, KIYC Kshetrigao were recommended for the league.
The recommendation was approved by AMFA executive body meet held on December 9, 2022 attended by 11 members in view of SSU depositing Rs 1 lakh for 2nd Division l-League and unable to communicate with KLASA, he said adding that representative of AIFF will visit the state to see if the recommendation of KIYC fulfils 2nd Division l-League norms.
According to M Ratankumar, KLASA Keinou emerged champions of 14th and 15th Manipur State League but the club was not recommended for the I-League in view of damage caused to AMFA office and misconduct by club's players and officials against officials of a match of the 15th Manipur State League which violates Article 31 of AMFA constitution.
As per AMFA norms, all its clubs and units can lodge complaint as per Article 29 and could hold press conference and seek permission for approaching the court of law with prior information to AMFA's Arbitration Tribunal but it was very unfortunate that clubs and district associations lacked this knowledge, he added.
