Sit-in protests blast; ex-MLA demands clarification

Condemning plant ing and exploding an IED in front of the residential gate of Sagolband AC ex-MLA Dr Kh Loken, locals staged sit-in protest at Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai, here, on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest organised jointly by Takhellambam Leikai Youth Club and Haorokchambi Apunba Nupi Lup, one Soram Kananbala denounced the bomb blast in the densely populated area.
Fortunately, as no one was there on the road at the time of incident, so no one was injured, she stated, while demanding not to repeat such acts in public places.
While asking all concerned to explain the reason for such threats, she also urged the government to find out the culprits and punish then according to the law of the land.
Meanwhile, apart from appealing to those responsible for the life-threatening bomb attack at his residence on Thursday evening to clarify reasons for triggering the blast, former Sagolband MLA Kh Loken has offered to clar ify from his side if he had committed any mistake in the past.
Addressing media persons at his residence, here, Friday, Kh Loken said that a powerful bomb exploded near the gate of his residence at about 8pm on Thursday.
It was very unfortunate that the bomb was exploded at the densely populated area and at the time when many people including students were returning home.
Fortunately, no one was injured but it could have been a different story had the bomb inflicted casualties, he said, adding that the bomb exploded just when he entered inside his house.
While asserting that he has no enmity with any person or group and even suffered defeat in election repeatedly, Kh Loken appealed to those responsible for the blast and targeting him to clarify reason for the bomb attack.
He also offered to hold talk and clarify from his side if there were any mistake on his part in the past.
Kh Loken also urged chief minister N Biren Singh, chief secretary, DGP and SP Imphal West to take up necessary action and provide security.
The JD (U) Manipur State Unit also condemned the bomb attack at Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai residence of its vice president and 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly candidate Dr Khwairakpam Loken on Thursday night.
In a release JD (U) Manipur informed that an emergency meeting chaired by its senior vice president Limjalet Haokip and attended by members was held on Friday and condemned the IED attack at the residence of Khwairakpam Loken.
The party also demanded clarification from the perpetrators reason for the attack and appealed not to repeat such attacks in crowded areas.
