Scorpio set ablaze

Senapati, October 07 2022:
Unknown miscreants set ablaze a Mahindra Scorpio at Taphou Naga village, some 1.5 Km away from Senapati police station.
The incident took place on Friday between 1 am and 2 am inside the residential compound of one Robert T Maram s/o Kh Talu (village chief) of Taphou Naga village.
People of the neighbourhood reportedly came to know of the incident when they heard the alarm from the four-wheeler.
The villagers reportedly brought water in buckets and tried to douse the fire but the vehicle was completely burnt.
Another Gypsy which was parked near the Scorpio was also partly burnt.
The miscreants reportedly poured petrol on the sofa and blankets kept outside the verandah of the house but presumably ran away at the alarm sound of the alarm when it started burning.

A CCTV camera is installed at the front gate of the residence but the miscreants reportedly entered the compound from the backside of the house.
Incidentally, Robert T Maram contested the last State Assembly election as an Independent candidate from 49-Tadubi AC.
He is also the former working president of the Naga People's Front, Manipur State Unit (NPF-MSU) before he fought the election.
Senapati Police inspected the spot early this morning.
Addressing media persons, Karaiba, village secretary of Taphou Naga village condemned the unexpected incident that took place in the village last night.
He asked who committed the arson and why.
The village secretary also asked all concerned to come forward and own responsibility for their act of arson.
The village secretary also appealed to the law enforcing agencies to find out the culprits and book them according to law.
Senapati Police reportedly collected some equipment used during the attack by the miscreants.
An FIR has been reportedly filed at Senapati police station.
