Pact signed to enhance IT capacity building

National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) and 12 colleges on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for technical partnership and IT capacity building programmes under the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Manipur.
The participating colleges in the first phase are Manipur College, Lilong Haoreibi College, S Kula Women's College, Kakching Khunou College, Imphal College, Hindi Teachers' Training College, Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Nambol L Sanoi College, DM College of Teacher Education, Standard College, Presidency College and United College.
The signing of the MoU was held at the seminar hall of NIELIT, Akampat, in a grand function attended by NIELIT director N Debachandra Singh, University & Higher Education Manipur director Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, Directorate of Higher Education OSD Dr N Ajith Singh, principals of all the 12 colleges who are part of the collaboration, IT nodal officers of the respective colleges and one faculty from each college.
The MoU has been signed to strengthen the IT Capacity building among the faculties so as to enable them to teach under the new syllabus adopted under Manipur University where IT is an essential component in all the subjects.
The NEP 2020 recommends the multidisciplinary education with collaborative approach.
The purpose of the MoU is to build a technical relationship between the institutes in reskilling and empowering the students in areas of IECT (either in digital literacy or emerging technologies or industry oriented areas or livelihood activities), to work in collaborative mode for identification of technology and knowledge gap of the faculties and the students, and bring a solution by way of organising seminars, workshops, brainstorming sessions, faculty development programmes, addon courses, skill-development programs, research and development (R&D) in IT and ITeS sectors.
