Training programme on "Soil and water conservation" conducted

Chandel, October 07 2022:
North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management, an institute under the Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India in collaboration with District Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (DRDA), Chandel today organised a 1-day training programme on "Soil and Water conservation" at Purum Pantha Community Hall, Chandel block.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Professor (WRE), NERIWALM, Dr Sanayanbi Hodam highlighted the need for soil & water conservation.
Giving a brief introduction about NERIWALM, Dr Hodam also stressed on the importance of organising such training programmes.

Three resource persons from the Cluster Facilitation Project, MGNREGA, namely Okram Basudev, State Project Officer (NRM); Dr Shelina Rajkumari, Block NRM Expert and Dr Saikhom Bidyasagar also spoke on the occasion.
Okram Basudev Singh gave a presentation on "Water Conservation Technology for Hill Agriculture" while Dr Shelina on "Soil degradation & conservation" and Dr Bidyasagar on "System of Rice Intensification" .
The training programme was attended by officers from PHED, DRDA, District Agriculture Department, farmers and village chiefs.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Stephen Modar, Project Officer MGNREGA, Chandel.
It may be mentioned that a similar programme was conducted yesterday at Conference Hall, DC Complex, District Head Quarter.
