'Deep Focus' photo exhibition inaugurated

A National Photo Exhibition 'Deep Focus', which is being organised by Manipur University Department of Mass Communication was inaugurated at MU campus on Monday.
The inaugural function was attended by renowned filmmaker and screenwriter Mayanglanglam Romi Meitei as chief guest along with Department of Mass Communication HoD Dr RK Lilapati as functional president and School of Social Sciences dean Prof S Mangi Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, Romi Meitei confided that he was convinced to join the exhibition after knowing the title of the exhibition and was delighted to be a part of it.
"There is no greater discovery than the discovery of art.
Even if the discoveries of scientific devices are more numerous than art, no discovery can conquer the discovery of art, as the debate on whether robot is an art is still going on," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr RK Lilapati expressed her gratitude on the response received from the public and also to the photographers and photo enthusiasts from 20 states for showing keen interest in the exhibition and submitting more than 200 entries.
The exhibition, 'Deep Focus' has been initiated by the students of Department of Mass Communication.
Focusing on the history of Manipur, the exhibition will act as an archive through the timeline of Manipur back in the days.
Deep Focus is an exhibition of lifestyles followed during 60s, 70s and years before that.
A variety of vintage cameras, vintage photo printing equipment that were in use before the digital age are also being displayed at the exhibition.
