Four individuals have been remanded to police custody in connection with two separate cases of sexual assault on minors.
Special Judge, POCSO Imphal West today remanded 24 years old Moirangthem Manisana of Chalou Maning Leikai to five days police custody allegedly for kidnapping and committing sexual assault on a minor on November 13 .
Moirangthem Manisana s/o Manithoiba was arrested yesterday morning by a team of Moreh police station and produced before the Court today.
Through an APP, the IO of the case submitted that the mother of the victim lodged a complaint to Moreh police station stating that her daughter failed to return after she went to Moreh Bazar on December 13 .
On contacting some friends of the girl, they came to know that her daughter was forcibly kidnapped/ abducted from Moreh Bazar by the accused.
After the minor girl was rescued, she narrated that she was sexually assaulted by the accused.
The accused was arrested yesterday morning in connection with the case from his residence and on preliminary interrogation, he admitted the charges levelled against him.
Saying that the accused needed to be confined in police custody in order to extract more information, the IO prayed for five days police custody remand.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded Moirangthem Manisana in police custody till December 23 for smooth investigation of the case.
In yet another case of crime against women and children, the Court of Special Judge POCSO, Imphal West today remanded three persons to police custody for five days for allegedly kidnapping and committing sexual assault on a minor girl on December 17 .
Three accused persons identified as Sorem Kenedy (31) s/o Chinglen of Mayang Langjing Taning Awang Leikai, Chonjonbam Ranjan (25) s/o Rajen of Phumlou Siphai Maning Leikai and Chonjonbam Sanathoi 24 s/o Bihari of Phumlou Siphai Maning Leikai were arrested yesterday based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the minor victim.
They were produced before the Court by a team of women police station, Imphal West along with a prayer for police custody remand for further investigation of the case.
The IO of the case, through an APP, submitted that the mother of the minor victim lodged a complaint stating that when her minor daughter went out to buy some stuff from a nearby shop on December 17 at around 6.10 pm, she was kidnapped from their residential gate by the accused persons after gagging her mouth.
They dragged the girl inside a car and committed sexual assault even as the car was moving.
They later abandoned her after threatening her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone, according to the complaint.
In the course of investigation, the police team arrested the accused persons and seized the car used in committing the crime.
On preliminary interrogation, the accused persons admitted the charges levelled against them.
Saying that investigation of the case is in its initial stage and thorough interrogation of the accused persons is required, the IO prayed the Court to remand the accused in police custody for five days.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the accused persons in police custody till December 23 .
