Ukhrul, December 19 2022:
The 1992 batch (45 RR) IPS officers paid rich homage to their beloved colleague Late RN Hopingson IPS during their 30 Years Reunion Seminar at Sardar Vallabhai Academy, Hyderabad.
The two days event was held from December 12 with the objective of re-uniting and strengthening relationships among the 1992 batch (45 RR) IPS officers along with the families of officers who lost their lives in service.
A wreath laying programme in memory of RN Hopingson was held and floral tributes were paid as a mark of respect.
The picture of Late RN Hopingson was also engraved on a memorial site along with other police martyrs of the Nation, for their supreme sacrifices in discharge of duty.
It may be noted that RN Hopingson was killed in an ambush by militants in 1995 at Senapati district, Manipur.
Harmeet Singh, a batchmate who is now the Police Commissioner of Guwahati shared stories of Late RN Hopingson.
He was brilliant, with a sense of humor.
A fine officer was lost and a martyr was born.
He was dedicated and committed to works assigned, said Harmeet Singh.
Hopingson, after training, was initially posted in Manipur.
After completing his phase-II training in November 1994 from SVP NPA, he was martyred on June 2, 1995 in Senapati.
J Ngachonsem, nephew of Late officer Hopingson expressed gratitude to the IPS officers for hosting a special programme in Hopingson's name during the re-union seminar.
"It was an experience meeting the officer friends of my late uncle in person and reliving the old memories" .
Ngachonsem said, "Our family continues to sponsor awards for meritorious students of Ukhrul district who excel in the HSLC Exam every year in order to pass on the legacy of a great son of the soil" .
RN Hopingson was the only son of Late RN Shangreihui and RN Ningchungla.
He hailed from Phalee Village of Ukhrul District and belonged to the Tangkhul Naga community.
He was a 1992 batch IPS officer, one of the first IPS officers from his community.
The re-union programme was attended by families, nephew and niece of the martyred officer.
