Five including two women held drugs

Different teams of Bishnupur district police commandos, 16 Assam Rifles and NAB PS have apprehended three drug peddlers including two women along with 2Kg of opium and two men with 624 grams of Heroin on Sunday and Saturday.
According to police, a combined team of Bishnupur commandos and 16 AR including women personnel nabbed three drug peddlers out of which two are women, while conducting frisking at Potsangbam Maning in Bishnupur district on Sunday evening.
The three were stopped by the team of police while they were travelling on two two-wheelers towards Chothe village and upon checking 2 Kg of opium concealed in two plastic packages labelled 'Sweet Toast' and 'Bright Detergents' were recovered from their possession.
On further interrogation, the three revealed that the contraband item was bought from one Deban of Malom for sale to customers, the police informed, adding that the arrestees along with the seized opium have been handed over to Bishnupur police station for further investigation.
The arrestees have been identified as Warepam Reshma Devi (40) wife of John Zou and T Neinu Zou (38) daughter of Thang Nga Zou, both from Chothe Ward No 12, and Pukhrambam Shyam Singh (46) son of Tampha Singh Nachou Pan-thou Ward No 6.Meanwhile, a team of NAB PS arrested two drug peddlers identified as Md Habibur Rahaman alias Motibur Rahaman (39) son of Azijur Rahaman of Kwakta Ward No 7 and Md Fajal (37) son of Md Abdulhei of Kwakta Selva along with 624 grams of heroin powder at Tuibong, Churachandpur DC Road on Saturday at 3:55 pm.
According to police, the two were arrested by the team of NAB PS while conducting frisking at Tuibong.
A case has also been registered for further investigations, the police added.
