MSPC clarifies on status of private institutes

Manipur State Pharmacy Council (MSPC) has clarified that the three private institutions offering pharmacy courses in Manipur namely, Saina Institute of Medical Sciences, Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute and Saraswati Institute of Management and Paramedical Sciences have already processed for recognition and affiliation under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and Manipur University (MU) respectively.
In a release, MSPC president RK Basumani Singh informed that the state government has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to all three for applying the same.
MSPC never registers any institutes or individuals that/who applies for registration without checking essential criteria.
Before registrations the Council also conducts verification by competent authority, it stressed.
The release mentioned that Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute and Saraswati Institute of Management & Paramedical Sciences have been approved by the PCI for conduct of 1st Year Diploma in Pharmacy course while Saina Institute of Medical Sciences could only complete the online registration and other process remain incomplete due to internet problems.
All three of them have applied to MU for affiliation.
Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute has received an NOC and its infrastructure inspected by MU authority.
Saina Institute of Medical Sciences has also received consent from MU authority while Saraswati Institute has been given the green signal for conduct of DPharm course from MU, it added.
MSPC further said that its executive committee meeting held on Tuesday has resolved that Saina Institute of Medical Sciences should complete the online registration process of the PCI as and when its portal for new institution opens, failing which the institute should discontinue the pharmacy courses.
