TAKDAL to hold mass rally in Thoubal on Aug 31

Imphal, August 01 2026: The Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) will organise a mass rally of indigenous communities under the theme "Save Manipur" in Thoubal district on August 31, TAKDAL convenor Waikhom Jotinkumar announced today.

Jotinkumar made the announcement while attending a condolence programme at JNIMS mortuary to expressed solidarity with the families of six Naga civilians who were allegedly taken hostage and killed at Leilon Vaiphei on May 13 .

The bodies of the victims have remained at the JNIMS mortuary as the bereaved families and supporters continue to demand justice.

The condolence programme was also attended by representatives of the All Manipur Umala Council and the United Zeliangrongpui Coordination Committee, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Jotinkumar said the prevailing crisis in the State has made it necessary for indigenous communities to understand the origins of the violence and collectively face the challenges confronting Manipur.

He stressed the need for unity among the indigenous communities of the State, particularly under the broader "Idea of Manipur", and called for collective efforts to protect the interests of the people.

Appealing to all indigenous communities across the State, Jotinkumar urged them to participate in the August 31 mass rally in Thoubal and extend collective support to the "Save Manipur" message.
