State Pharmacy Council clarifies

The Manipur State Pharmacy Council has clarified that the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is the authorized body that recognises private institutions providing pharmacy courses.
As such, three paramedical institutes of the State viz; the Saina Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), the Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute and Saraswati Institute of Management and Paramedical Sciences are set for recognition by the Pharmacy Council of India and affiliation to Manipur University, said a statement issued by the Manipur State Pharmacy Council today.
RK Basumani, president of the council, added that the State Government had issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the three institutes for applying for registration to PCI.
The Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute and Saraswati Institute of Management and Paramedical Sciences are approved by PCI to open 1st year Diploma course in Pharmacy while SIMS has completed online registration process but some other processes needed for recognition are due.
All the three institutes had also applied to Manipur University for affiliation and Saraswati Institute of Management and Paramedical Sciences and SIMS have been authorized for opening D Pharm course while Kangleipak Medical and Nursing Institute was recently inspected by MU authority for infrastructural requirements, he added in the statement.
RK Basumani also directed SIMS to complete the process for registration under PCI at the earliest failing which they have to discontinue the pharmacy courses in the institute.
The council also clarified that the Manipur State Pharmacy Council never registers any institute without checking the essential criteria.
Moreover verification is also conducted through competent authority.
