Kangpokpi, December 14 2021: Veteran politician and current advisor to CM, Ngamthang Haokip exuded confidence of getting the BJP ticket for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022 .

A felicitation programme of the Saitu AC MLA Ngamthang Haokips success in the 2020 by-election cum announcement to contest in the 2022 polls was held on Monday at General Thangal Ecological Park, Mayangkhang, Kangpokpi district.

Education minister S Rajen, Agriculture minister O Lukhoi and Sagolband MLA RK Imo were present at the function wherein Rev PY Majulong, Pastor of Mayangkhang Baptist Church attended as administrator.

Apart from the dignitaries, around 2000 supporters from across Saitu AC, chiefs of more than 150 villages and former elected members of ADC Sadar Hills also attended the event.

During the felicitation programme, the three best polling stations during the by-election 2020 were rewarded.

Khoken Polling Station (first), Mayangkhang (second) and T Khullen (third) were rewarded cash incentive of Rs 3 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rsl lakh respectively, while Mayangkhang Khunou and Veitum Khullen polling stations were given a consolation prize of Rs 50,000 each.

Rev Majulong pronounced a blessing prayer for Ngamthang Haokjp after the announcement of his candidature The 69-year old politician, who won in the 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections and triumphed in the by-election in 2020, said, "Party is very important in forming a government for the people and, therefore, I along with my workers joined the BJP for the people and development".

To end speculations over who is getting party ticket, Ngamthang asserted, "I am 100 pc confident of getting the BJP ticket.

I could assure you this after talking with the party leaders, chief minister, my MLA colleagues and ministers".

He continued, "I am not a man of lip service but a man of work, I can't do sweet talk to persuade people but I can work the whole day and night for the welfare and development of my people".

The seasoned politician then urged his supporters and voters to work sincerely with prayers for a peaceful and successful 2022 election.

Education minister S Rajen said that there is no reason as to why Ngamthang Haokip should not be given the party ticket considering his enormous contribution towards the party's stability in the state and welfare of the state and the nation as a whole.

The minister further said that as per the survey report, the BJP will be winning at least 32 seats from the valley, and considering the people's support from the hills, it will comfortably form the government again with an absolute majority.

While highlighting the various developmental schemes and projects initiated by the BJP government in the hill districts, minister Rajen urged the people of Saitu AC to vote for the experienced politician who is sure to get the BJP ticket to witness more development in the hills, adding that Manipur will develop only when there is equal development in the hills the valley.

Agriculture minister O Lukhoi pointed out that Manipur is a tiny beautiful state with limited resources and is dominated by diverse ethnic groups dwelling peacefully and respectfully since time immemorial but few vested political party leaders for their devilish intention had created mistrust and disunity among the ethnic groups.

However, with the BJP led government coming into power and under the transparent and sincere leadership of chief minister N Biren Singh, the age-old bond of brotherhood among the diverse ethnic groups has been revived and trust and unity among them restored.

It is tremendously vital for the people of Saitu AC to vote for a politician like Ngamthang Haokip who has a vision for peace and development and cordial relation among the people, he added.

BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary & in-charge of Kangpokpi district Paokam Haokip, Saitu Mandal president Khageshore Sharma Pokhrel, chief of Mayangkhang Khunou Neli, T Khullen chief Mareipa, Saitu Gamphazol Area Village Organisation president Tinsei Haokip, Kangchup Chiefs' Association president Lunsat Kipgen, Nunggang village chief Amos Dangmei, Bungte Chiru chairman Thanglenhang, Leimakhong Mission Veng chairman Lunmang vaiphei, Chonghang Union president Henkhomang Hangshing, Ireng village chairman Th Loveson, ex-MDCs Johnny Gangmei (Tintonglaijang), Dinglar Chiru (Bungte Chiru) and Dama Vaiphei (Kangchup), T Hensei Kom (chief agent), Paothong Doungel (election chairman) and Rajen Thangal (election secretary) also attended and spoke on the occasion.
