Excise Dept generates Rs 29 crore in revenue since March : CM
'Re-opening of NH-2 a step towards normalcy'

The Excise Department has generated around Rs 29 crore in revenue since March 26, 2026 .
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said this at the 79th Manipur Excise Raising Day, observed at the Excise Headquarter Office, Lamphelpat, Imphal West, today.
During the programme, Chief Minister feted Ariha Pangambam, the first Indian to win a gold medal in Aerobic Gymnastics in the recently concluded 10th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships, and Anjori Pangambam, who secured 7th position in the same event.
The CM also distributed awards to best performing Excise station and other awards.

At the event, Khemchand said that the unprecedented crisis that erupted in May 2023 has hit the State's financial resources, and noted the Excise Department's collection of Rs 29 crore in revenue since March 26, 2026 as an achievement.
Commenting on the prevailing situation, he stressed that the resumption of the bus services on the Imphal-Guwahati is a positive step towards bringing normalcy.
The number of passengers commuting on the Im- phal-Guwahati route has grown over the last few days, and is a result of increasing public faith in the Govt, he added.
He also appreciated the State and Central security forces for their well-coordinated efforts in curbing the crisis in the State.
The Chief Minister also assured to look into grievances of the Excise Employees' Association.
The award for Best Performing Excise Station was received by Zone-I (HO) .
Nambol Excise Station received the award for 2nd best performing Excise station.
Zone-II (HQ) received the award for 3rd best performing Excise station.
Kangpokpi Excise Station and Tadubi Excise Station received the award for best performing Excise stations in Hill.
Keithelmanbi Excise station received the award for outstanding co-ordination with the other law enforcement departments. Meritorious awards were also given to four individuals for outstanding perfor- mance and dedication towards service.
Special awards were also given to organisations or "stakeholders" for their contribution to the progress, development and efficiency of the Excise Department.
Commissioner Excise Hungyo Worshang, Commissioner Finance, N Ashok Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Imphal West M Rajkumar Singh, and senior officials and staff of Excise Dept attended the event.
