Biswajit promises better power supply

Power Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has said that the solution to unemployment in any society is industrialisation and without power and energy 'we cannot bring industrialisation' .
Addressing the closing ceremony of the National Energy Conservation Week-2021 as the chief guest at Hotel Imphal today, the Minister said that the Imphal-Mariani via Kohima transmission ring stringing has been completed.
There will be no shortage of power in the State, he added.
Explaining the benefits of UJALA scheme, the Minister said, under the scheme, LED bulbs and tube-lights are being provided to consumers at subsidised rates to replace the incandescent and inefficient bulbs.
This has helped in reduction of power bills, emission of toxic gasses like CO2 and saving energy, Biswajit continued and added, "If our consumers continue to use power efficiently, we will reduce our power bills and contribute to conserving energy".
Minister Biswajit further highlighted that the State's Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses in 2017 was 45.6 percent, but the same has been reduced to 20.5 percent.
He also said that achieving the Prime Minister's vision of a self reliant India or new India is not possible without making Manipur self reliant.
Biswajit further expressed keen desire to see the two power companies (MSPCL and MSPDCL) as resourceful companies which would take major roles in bringing development in the State.
In his message to the students, Thongam Biswajit Singh said that there can be no success without hard work.
He said that "we should imbibe positivity in our minds to succeed in life and understand our responsibilities towards the society".
The Minister said that activities conducted during the National Energy Conservation Week including essay writing, painting competitions, cycle rally, etc were aimed at spreading a message of energy conservation.
The National Energy Conservation Week 2021, organised by the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (SDA Manipur), commenced on December 9 under the motto "Conserve Energy, Save the Future" and concluded today.
It may be mentioned that prizes for the painting and essay writing competitions conducted during the National Energy Conservation Week-2021 were also distributed.
