NPF eyeing to contest in 15 ACs

The Naga People's Front, Manipur State Unit (NPF-MSU) has made its declaration on Tuesday to held candidates in about 15 seats for the 32th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2022.This was stated by the party's state general secretary Honreikhui Kashung in an exclusive interview with The People's Chronicle.
Honreikhui stated that as per the sitting of NPF office bearers from across the state on November 29, issuance of form to intending candidates seeking party tickets for the next elections had started on December 6 and will close on December 15 at 4 pm.
Till date, the party has received 35 applicants from 11 assembly constituencies, he said, while adding that the party intends to field about 15 candidates.
The general secretary mentioned that the party workers will examine credentials of the tickets seekers though the final decision will be made by NPF ticket committee and party authority soon.
It may be noted that NPF-MSU debuted in Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2012 with four MLAs.
Another four MLAs from the party got elected in the 2017 elections and formed a coalition government with the BJP and has two cabinet ministers at present.
Earlier, minister Awangbow Newmai, who is NPF-MSU president had stated that the party is hopeful to reaching the double digit seats in the next assembly elections scheduled early next year.
