Imphal, December 14 2021:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president N Loken has stated that the first agenda of Congress, if it were to form the government, would be repealing Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 from the state.
He made the statement during inauguration of a community hall constructed under the LADF of Khundrakpam AC MLA in Khewa Company, Imphal East district on Tuesday.
Loken said that it was unfortunate to see the incumbent government's lie getting exposed after it claimed in the media that it was urging the centre to repeal AFSPA, when all along it was the state government which was objecting to the repeal of the draconian Act.
This has only proven the government's greed to hold on to the power and its self-interests, while having no regard for the people.
Even the government's claims of bring huge changes in the state could only be seen in terms of destruction of the economy and other important sectors, he remarked.
In his speech, Khundrakpam AC MiA Th Lokeshwar said that if Congress were to form the government again in the state, it would see to the construction of Sagolmang District Hospital, which has been ignored by the BJP government for a long time.
Thus, he urged the denizens of the constituency to help teach a lesson to those candidates who are suddenly showing their love for the people as the election draws near.
The inaugural function was also attended by Makeng Dolaithabi ZP member N Sanatomba and others.
