Barak Harvest Festival 2.0 kicks off

The Barak Harvest Festival 2.0 jointly organised by Loumi Lup Assam, BIKACHSI Agro Producer Company Limited and Barak Dairy Producer Cooperative Society Limited kicked off today at Mutum Leikai, Singerband, Cachar, Assam under the theme, "Nurturing farm economy & culture".
A total of 10 stalls were opened at the festival showcasing over 75 varieties of rice grown across Cachar district, Assam.
The inaugural session of the festival was attended by Arambam Nandababu, retired Additional Secretary, Government of Assam as moderator along with Manipuri Development Council Assam chairman, Mutum Reena Devi and ADC Agriculture Cachar, Yubraj Borthakur.
Dr Ajita Tuwari, Agricultural Engineering Assam University and professor Dr Arup Barman, Business Administration, Assam University delivered lectures on the topics, "Farm Mechanization" and "Doubling Income of Farmers" respectively.
Loumi Lup Assam president, Y Jamuna Singh stated that the festival was organised with the aim to promote the farmers, showcase their harvest and assist them in availing the benefits of schemes provided by the Government.
Loumi Lup Assam member, Oinam Vidya Singha stressed on the importance of the festival and urged all to provide their support in conducting the festival every year.
As part of the event, certificates and mementos were presented to 25 selected farmers as a mark of appreciation and acknowledgement.
