51st Statehood Day observed

Imphal, January 21 2023:
The 51st Statehood Day was observed at Statehood Square organised by the Statehood Square Development committee today.
During the observation, tributes were paid to all who participated in the struggle to gain Statehood.
The programme was presided by former Minister and Statehood Square Development Committee Chairman Laishram Jatra Singh.
Speaking at the occasion, CPI (M) Manipur secretary Kshetrimayum Santa appealed to the Government to develop Statehood Square as a prominent place considering its importance in the Statehood struggle.
The other dignitaries recalled the struggle of the people during the Statehood movement and lauded their sincere contributions.
Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) also observed the 51st Statehood Day at Irawat Bhawan today.
Eminent CPI leaders including Dr M Nara, Comrade L Thoiren and Comrade L Sotinkumar attended the programme among others.
The dignitaries while speaking at the occasion recalled the uncountable contributions made by various persons to gain Statehood of Manipur.
They maintained that the people's leader Lamyanba Hijam Irabot had highlighted the need of having a federal structure of Manipur and to be granted Statehood.
Following his footsteps, his followers continued the Statehood movement, they added.
