AR units conduct cleanliness drives, yoga session

Imphal, January 21 2023:
With an aim to sensitise the students about the importance of a clean and healthy environment, Company Operating Base (COB), Singjamei of Mantripukhri Battalion under IGAR (South) organised a cleanliness drive as a part of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'" with students and teachers of Pishum Upper Primary School on Saturday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the students joined hands in cleaning the surrounding areas and were also educated about the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to the nation.
A total of 50 teachers and students of the school participated in the event.
Chassad Battalion Of IGAR (South) also conducted a one day cleanliness programme at Aishi village in Kamjong district on Saturday.
The programme was organised to create awareness amongst local population regarding importance of hygiene and sanitation.
Garbage, wrappers, litters and other kinds of waste were picked up and disposed properly.
A total of 25 villagers participated in the drive and pledged to keep the surrounding clean and hygienic.
On the other-hand, Somsai Battalion of 10 Assam Rifles/ IGAR (South) conducted a one-week yoga session from January 16 for troops, families and children of Assam Rifles as part of a 'Art of Living' initiative at Somsai in Ukhrul district.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the yoga session was conducted to spread awareness and practice aerobic breathing techniques and new yoga techniques to maintain stress free environment in Armed Forces.
Troops, families and children were also briefed on necessity to incorporate yoga in their daily routine to reduce the effect of lifestyle diseases and other physical ailments.
