Imphal, January 21 2023:
The National Revolutionary Front, Manipur (NRFM) has called an 18 hours general strike in the State from January 25 midnight till 6 pm of January 26.A press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei said that religious functions, medical services, emergency services and media would be exempted from the purview of the general strike.
Asking if there is any valid reason for the people of Manipur to join the Indian Republic Day celebration, the NRFM called upon all the people to stand united against the alien rule.
It categorically stated that the international community will never recognise the Manipuri Nation as long as Manipur remains under the Indian rule.
Even though some people of the land are used as proxies to rule the State after giving them the positions of Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs, the real political power over Manipur is concentrated in the hands of New Delhi, it said.
After the Government of India had already legalised poppy plantation, the State Government declared ' War on Drugs ' and the State Government leaders are indulging in all kinds of publicity stunts.
The State Government has fallen into complete chaos and it is even unable to supply drinking water to a large section of people, the outfit alleged.
Accusing the Government of India of exploiting the resources of Manipur in a wanton manner, the outfit alleged that the Government of India sees every family as insurgents apart from promoting corruption openly.
Combing operations have made many women widows while large tracts of the State's territory have been gifted to Myanmar in the name of Act East Policy, it said.
There will be no peace and insurgency will remain until and unless Manipur achieves independence, it asserted.
No military power can suppress the liberation movement.
The issue can be resolved only through political dialogue, it continued.
Just as Indian people craved for independence, Manipuri people also equally cherish freedom, it added.
