Imphal, January 21 2023:
Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam has suggested to the writers to record and publish the words of politicians who make long and beautiful speeches in public but fail to put the same into action.
He gave the suggestion while speaking on the occasion of Ashangbam Minaketan Memorial Lecture programme held in connection with the 50th anniversary celebration of Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA), which was jointly organised by the Akademi and Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Shyam cautioned that politicians must be aware of what they say and remember that human life is short.
Thus, we must do good deeds and be harmonious with the people, in addition to following up on the promises we have made to the people.
He then said that writers/authors hold great responsibility with the power of their pen.
Their contribution to the society is immense and it is for the sake of future generation.
Thus, politicians should be aware of this fact and remember the contributions of stalwart politicians like Koireng, Yangmaso Shaiza, Rishang Keishing, Dorendra and others, he asserted.
The MLA then mentioned that development of a Dr Kamal memorial complex, which was previously delayed due to fund paucity, will commence within the next few days as the government has sanctioned some fund.
During the function, which was presided over by Samiti president Naoroibam Indra mani, Dr Sagolsem Lanchenba Meetei delivered the memorial lecture on the topic 'Minaketangi Sheirengda Ashibana Piba Ethil'.
Later, a booklet was released to mark the event.
