Security measures tightened across state

Imphal, January 21 2023:
As part of security measures being taken up ahead of Republic Day celebration, Imphal West district police commandos carried out search operation in Hodam Leirak and Top Leirak area from 6am till 8am on Saturday.
In all, 70 houses were searched and 120 people including 6 UGs out on bail were verified.
Another team also conducted searches at different hotels in Paona Keithel from 7.50 am till 9am on Saturday.
Altogether 7 hotels were searched but there was no report of any arrest made.
Similarly, despite closure of the Indo-Myanmar border since peak of the Covid-19 outbreak, 5 Assam Rifles stationed in Moreh town tightened security measures along the border ahead of the Republic Day by restricting entry of Myanmarese nationals into Moreh town while Jiribam District Police and commando units beefed up security in the district to ensure smooth celebration of the Republic Day.
As part of the security measures, search operations were conducted at Jiri Keithel and its adjoining areas on Saturday.
People present in the area were verified one by one, out of which 19 without proper identification documents were taken to Jiribam police station for further verification and later released.
