Assembly session to have five sittings

The fifth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will have five sittings from February 28 to March 5.The Manipur Legislative Assembly's Business Advisory Committee took a decision to this effect today.
With Speaker Th Satyabrata in the chair, the Business Advisory Committee held a meeting in his office chamber at 1 pm today.
Notably, Governor Anusuiya Uikey has already summoned the fifth session of the 12 Manipur Legislative Assembly from February 28 .
Although the session will continue over a period of seven days, it will have only five sittings as decided by the Business Advisory Committee.
Anusuiya Uikey would open the session on February 28 with the customary Governor's address.
Supplementary Demands for Grants 2023-24 and Budget Estimates 2024 would be tabled in the Assembly on the same day.
There would be discussion and voting on the Supplementary Demands for Grants, 2023-24 on February 29.A motion for Vote on Accounts would be raised on the same day.
Moreover, Manipur Appropriation Bill(s) would be introduced on the same day.
Manipur Appropriation Bill(s) would be discussed and passed on the third day (March 1).There would be no sitting on March 2 and 3 .
Committee reports, if any, would be tabled on March 4 and Government Bill(s), if any, would be discussed and passed on the same day.
The final day of the session (March) has been set aside for questions and other businesses, if any.
Notably, the fourth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly had a single sitting on August 29, 2023 and it ended within 10 minutes.
As soon as the session was opened, Opposition Congress MLAs pointed out that the agenda forwarded to the Business Advisory Committee were missing from the business list.
Saying that there was no rule of law in Manipur, the Congress legislators asked under which rule the single sitting of the State Assembly was held.
As they further pointed out that protection of Manipur and the then prevailing situation of the State did not figure in the business list, there was a commotion in the House.
All the 10 Kuki MLAs who have been demanding a separate administration for Kuki-Zo people were not present in the last Assembly session.
