Naga seed-sowing festival Lui-Ngai-Ni begins

Lui-Ngai-Ni, the Naga seed sowing festival got underway at Mini Stadium Apollo ground in Tamenglong district on Wednesday under the theme "Quintessential Cultural Resurgence".
The state level festival was organised by Joint Tribes Council of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme under the aegis of United Naga Council.
The seed-sowing festival is celebrated by all Naga tribes of Manipur to offer praise to the almighty for bountiful blessings in the past year and further invoking more blessings for the coming seasons.
Zeme Baptist Church Pastor Reverend Namreikeu Pame invoked God's blessings to start the grandest festival of the Nagas.
Following the invocation prayer, United Naga Council president Ng Lorho hoisted the festival flag in the presence of tribe presidents and other dignitaries.
The opening session witnessed folk songs, cultural dances, rock band performances and blowing of trumpet among others.
Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah attended the first night as an honoured guest whereas local MLA Janghemlung Panmei and 6 Assam Rifles commandant Colonel Aman Ahluwalia SM were the special guests.
A total of 18 Naga tribes and over 600 delegates from all nooks and corner of the state are attended the festival.
