Imphal, February 14 2024:
Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) expressed its sincere gratitude to educational institutions which provide free education to students particularly those displaced by the violence erupted on May 3, 2023 .
The AIMS, however, expressed concern over collection of tuition fees for some months of the year 2024 by some schools from students who are to sit for the class-X examination and forced admission of class-XII appearing students at hostel/boarding run by the schools with the threat to deduct internal mark.
Considering collection of extra tuition fees and the pressure by some schools for compulsory residency at school hostel/boarding as 'blackmail' of students, AIMS asked the schools concerned to stop such unethical conduct and refund extra tuition fees collected from class X appearing students.
According to a statement of AIMS, some schools which consider students as commercial objects tarnish image of entire schools of the state and the schools concerned must stop their illegal acts or face consequences when people take action against the schools.
It also said that some private schools sign agreement with teachers occasionally to prohibit teachers from taking private tuition and open private coaching centre and asked the schools concerned to stop such illegal acts immediately.
