Neutral communities form Helpline Team

Imphal, February 13 2024: Committees and forums of different communities which are not directly involved in the ongoing strife in Manipur have constituted a Helpline Team to promote peaceful co-existence and prevent misunderstanding among different communities.

The Helpline Team can be contacted through mobile numbers 8974128019, 8119083707, 9863009747, 8974066205, 8787888028, 9378011627, 9612288777, 9612343373, 8119872056 and 9862601888 .

The formation of the Helpline Team was announced by Forum for Restoration of Peace Manipur (FRPM) convenor Ashang Kasar during a press briefing held at Tribal Market of New Lambulane today.

Reportedly a meeting of FRPM; Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), Imphal Zone; Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam Manipur (RNLPM), Tribal Market Management Committee (TMMC); Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA); Mao Naga Union (MNU), Imphal; United Meitei Pangal Committee (UMPC), Manipur and Kom Union Manipur (KUM) was convened at the Tribal Market today and discussion held on the emergence of misunderstanding among people of different communities from time to time in Imphal and its surrounding areas.

The meeting adopted a resolution for all the participating Forums and Committees to depute one member each to the Helpline Team.

At the press briefing, Ashang Kasar appealed to one and all to not incite communal violence on social media platforms for every misunderstanding.

Reiterating that the Helpline Team has been entrusted to make sure there is cordial relationships among all the communities living in Imphal and adjacent areas, Ashang Kasar maintained that a concerted effort must be put in to prevent misunderstanding of any kind among different communities before things get out of hand.
