A local of Serou has refuted the claim of Kakching Deputy Commissioner that some of the displaced people from Sugnu and Serou areas who were given dummy cheques for construction of their houses have received the first phase of the amount.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Budhichandra Thounaojam said that the statement of Kakching DC was untrue.
Saying that he also got the dummy cheque from the Government but haven't received any money for resettlement as of yet , Budhichandra maintained that his family is still taking refuge at a relief camp.
Further stating that dummy cheques were given to only 12 families at the Chief Minister's on November 9 from among all the families from Sugnu and Serou areas whose houses have been torched by Kuki militants, Budhichandra said that the Government hasn't released even a penny to the 12 families till now nor asked for bank account details.
He said that recipients of dummy cheques were asked to submit their bank details only yesterday.
