Imphal, February 13 2024:
Womenfolk of Pukhao Khabam have condemned the failure of the Assam Rifles to prevent an attack on their village by Kuki militants and for not keeping their word.
Speaking to the media, Pukhao Khabam Meira Paibi secretary N Binota said that Pukhao and other Meitei villages close to Saikul Range have been in a restive situation since the past many months due to the hostility of the Kuki militants and their associates.
She said that Kuki militants attacked Pukhao today too using sophisticated weapons and bombs only a few days after the top brass of Assam Rifles assured to keep Pukhao and nearby Meitei villages safe.
Saying that people of Pukhao and adjacent Meitei villages, especially elders, children, and women have been made restless by the offensives of the Kuki militants, Binota said that they have spent countless nights in the middle of the road with fellow villagers.
Binota went on to state that the mortal shells fired by Kuki militants must have been supplied by some big force.
Saying that the State forces couldn't respond to the Kuki militants attack on time, she appealed to the Centre and the State Government to take up necessary initiatives to stop the hostility of Kuki militants and also work out a solution to the crisis at the earliest.
