AR inaugurates project; provides relief Items, power reapers

Imphal, February 13 2024:
Project Madat, a women empowerment initiative, was launched at Kshetri Leikai Tomjing Makhong, Thoubal on Tuesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the project launched by Assam Rifles aims to empower women by providing them four power loom machines and necessary administrative support to establish a centre for producing high-quality cloths and pursuing viable vocations.
The power loom machines were entrusted to M/s Chingkheingamba Creationz, which offers employment opportunities to underprivileged groups, including widows, transgender individuals, and other marginalised families, in the presence of Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash Singh, and advisor to Anjuman Eslahi and United Meitei Pangal Committee (UNPC), Abdus Salam.
Meanwhile, under the aegis of the IGAR (South), relief materials were distributed at relief camps in Hiangtam Lamka and Pearsonmun villages in Churachandpur district as part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme, which was completed on February 11, 2024 .
The items distributed include an RO plant, blankets, sweaters, and nutrition products for children, sanitary pads, sports and recreational items, and other essentials.
The PRO informed in another release that the Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its commitment to bring about positive changes in the well-being of communities within its area of responsibility, thereby fortifying the relationship between security forces and the people of Manipur, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
As part of Operation Sadbhavna for 2023-24, Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) also distributed power reapers to farmers in Serou village (Kakching district) and Phundrei village (Thoubal district), to aid the farmers in harvesting and food processing, promoting self-reliance and socio-economic development in the region.
