Imphal, October 20 2026:
Several organisations have vehemently condemned the massacre of three innocent civilians at Khongbal Sunurok Uyok hill range, Imphal East under Sagolmang police station on October 19, 2026 .
MAYOL, AMUCO, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, AMA-WOVA, COHR and MSF have come out strongly against the massacre of the three unarmed, innocent civilians.
A joint statement issued by AMUCO, Poirei Le-imarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, AMAWOVA, COHR and MSF asserted that Manipur has been witnessing rampant acts of killings and human rights violation and these are a part of the systematic repression the people of Manipur are being subjected continuously since India annexed Manipur.
After all the atrocities, killings and rapes committed by the Indian armed forces could not achieve their objective, now communal cards and proxy forces are being employed to ignite conflicts and violence among different communities living together Manipur, it said.
AMUCO and the associated organisations maintained that the Sunurok massacre was executed under a specific policy.
Cultivating paddy and collection of firewood are two major sources of livelihood for a large number of people in Manipur.
But the Government has been watching silently when many helpless people engaged in these professions are killed by proxy forces.
The Government's silence and inaction only expose its intention to wipe out all the indigenous people, it said.
The five organisations have demanded immediate disbandment of the proxy forces.
They have also urged the authorities concerned to take up necessary actions and award exemplary punishment to all the perpetrators of the Sunurok massacre.
They added that a lasting solution could be achieved only after disbanding the proxy forces.
Condemning in the strongest terms the murder of Arubam Ronil, Lairenlakpam Inaobi and Ksh Sunil, the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) said that the Sunurok massacre was a result of the support and free hand given to Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists by the Government of India.
Watching silently when terrorist elements are shooting and killing innocent people at their will is unbecoming of a democratic country, MAYOL said.
For any kind of agitation launched by the aggrieved people and its consequences, the Government of India and the elected representatives of Manipur must bear full responsibility, it said.
If the Government still chooses not to launch any military crackdown against terrorists operating in the hill areas even after more than 200 people have been killed and 33 have gone missing since May 3, 2023 , the Government must accept the people's punishment, MAYOL said.
It also appealed to all the people to exert pressure on the Government collectively to launch a military crackdown and effectively contain Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
