Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, October 04 2023: Social activist and former candidate in the last Assembly election Thounaojam Brinda has tendered apologies to Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun for instigating the violence in Manipur.

A large number of volunteers of Arambai Tenggol gathered and surrounded the house of Brinda who contested the recently Assembly elections on a JD (U) ticket at Yaiskul Janmasthan this afternoon after an audio clip where the former police officer was heard accusing Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun of instigating the violence in Manipur was circulated widely on social media.

The volunteers of the cultural organisation led by its leader Korounganba demanded that Brinda should provide evidence for her claim or tender a public apology for trying to malign their image.

The former police officer came out and met some volunteers of Arambai Tenggol including its leader Korounganba at her courtyard.

During the interaction, the volunteers of the cultural organisation told the social activist that her wild allegation can mislead the people.

Brinda apologised for accusing Arambai Tenggol of camping at Churachandpur since May 2 and of being involved in the nude parade of two Kuki women.

Later at around 3.30 pm, volunteers of Meitei Leepun stormed the house of the former police officer and asked why she put the blame for the violence on them and from whom she got the information.

Tendering apology for her allegations, Brinda said that she was given wrong information on the matter.

In the viral audio clip, Brinda was heard saying that volunteers of Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun were deployed at Churachandpur since May 2 and it was them who torched the Meitei houses initially.

Brinda, in the audio clip, also claimed that Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun were formed under the guidance of Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Leisemba Sanajaoba.

In the audio clip, the former police officer went on to claim that the Chief Minister had devised a plan to be in power even if he parts ways with BJP by forming a regional party based on Meitei fanaticism with the help of Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun.

Later, the Arambai Tenggol uploaded a Facebook post which read, "Brindagi Audio Eikhoi Kuire Taba, Adubu Eikhoi Yeknabasing Khudongchaba Lwkhidra Khanbadagi Tumina Leirakpani,..Ngacidi viral oiraklabanina echena hyriba mayam adugi proof pigadabani, ngamdagra lalle hyjagadabani.

Mayum makei mei chaktuna siriba mayamsi fagira" .
