Imphal, October 04 2023:
Examination results are no longer assessed based on the performance but based on the "ethnicity" of the students in Manipur, alleged All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) .
In a statement, it claimed 76 students from Rayburn College appeared in the 6th semester examination (Psychology) but only 10 students were deemed to have passed the exam.
One student was given a score of -2 (negative 2) in Elective English and many students received a score of 0 (zero) in certain papers despite the subjects having both theory and practical components, ATSUM claimed.
After a verbal complaint was made, a revised result was declared within a span of 2-3 hours which showed the number of students who cleared the exam shot up from 10 to 41.This clearly shows that marks and the results have been "arbitrarily fixed" .
Necessary arrangement has to be made for the Kuki-Zo students by the authority concerned so that they can pursue the studies "without discrimination and malice", ATSUM said.
