Hand holding training for inmates begins

A skill development and hand holding training programme on agri-horti livelihood activities for the displaced people commenced at the Trade Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief centre on Tuesday.
The training programme organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department was attended by horticulture and soil conservation director Honey Chara, additional director K Devadutta Sharma, College of Food Technology, CAU dean Dr Ng Iboyaima, associate professor Dr Ng Joykumar, Imphal West horticulture department district officer P Pramo and elders of the relief camp Louri-yam Angou and Aheibam Mani as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Devadutta Sharma informed that the training programme on food processing aims to develop skills of inmates of 9 relief camps after a survey was conducted in the said relief camps under the aegis of the horticulture and soil conservation department.
He also stated that the training programme would also be conducted jointly by KVK and ICAR at relief camps opened in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts.
Devadutta further informed that the training will provide benefits available under the department.
After the training programme the participants will be supplied raw materials by the department and if needed work sheds will be constructed to produce healthy and quality products.
The department will also take the responsibility of marketing the products labelled with names of the relief camps where the products are made, he added.
