Jiribam residents appeal for affordable chopper fare from Jiribam to Imphal

An appeal has been made to the Chief Minister to set the fare of chopper service from Jiribam-Imphal at an affordable rate of Rs 2500 per passenger considering the inconveniences faced by the residents of Jiribam in view of the prevailing tense situation in the State.
The All Jiribam United Club Association (AJUCA) on behalf of the civil society organizations (CSOs) and student bodies submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner Jiribam to consider the chopper fare at Rs 2500 per passenger for the welfare of the Jiribam residents.
A copy of the memorandum has also been submitted to the Transport Minister.
AJUCA highlighted that the road condition of National Highway-37 is not viable for passengers to undertake long journeys and is not safe for travel amid the current conflict situation.
In line with the above matter, a press meet was held today attended by members of AJUCA, JDO, United Jiri Youth League, AJMP, MSF, DESAM, KSA, AMWOVA and another student body.
Addressing media persons, AJUCA President M Maipaksana maintained that the chopper service is the safest option for the residents to travel from Jiribam to Imphal at the moment and appealed to the Chief Minister to consider the chopper service fare at an affordable acknowledging the problems faced by the residents and their living conditions.
It is worth noting that the chopper fare for Jiribam-Imphal was fixed at Rs 2500 per passenger however it was increased to Rs 3800 per passenger during the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic and is fixed at the increased rate till date though the pandemic has been controlled.
