Imphal, October 04 2023:
Vice president of International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) Khuraijam Athouba has claimed that he was able to place a clear picture of the ongoing violence in Manipur during the 54th session of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at Geneva recently.
Speaking to the media at IPSA office today, Athouba continued that he intervened and spoke on the issue of illegal immigrants, widespread deforestation by Kuki narco-terrorists for poppy plantation and the subsequent degradation of climate, violation of human rights by narco-terrorists and establishment of unauthorised villages in Manipur during the session.
The leader of IPSA also said that he highlighted the wrong policy of the Indian Government which gives the narco-terrorists room to carry out their activities, unchecked.
Abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki militants is indispensable to stop the narco-terrorists and expansion of Golden Triangle to Churachandpur, Athouba suggested.
Athouba said that wrong narratives were made on Manipur violence during a panel discussion hosted by World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) on the sidelines of the 54th session of the UN Human Rights Council in late September.
He further said that some panellists wrongfully depicted Imphal as the place where the violence broke out in the first place, named Churachandpur as Lamka and only mentioned the atrocities meted out to Kukis by sidelining all the grievances of the Meeteis.
Saying that he was interrupted by the moderator of the side event multiple times while trying to make correction about the wrong narrations, Athouba mentioned that he nonetheless submitted a 23 page "A fact file report on Kuki narco-terrorists along Indo-Myanmar border line in Manipur and along North Eastern parts of India" to the Special Rapporteurs of the UN.
Reports published by UNDC on widespread poppy plantation at Churachandpur, mass casual leave taken by Kukis ahead of May 3 incident, seizure of drug in North East India, mobilisation of over Rs 700 crore and transaction of fund amounting Rs 10,000,00 to 20,000,00 to migrant Kukis were mentioned in the paper submitted to the Special Rapporteurs, he added.
He also said that people have started seeing the true picture on Manipur violence and the funding of EGI and other media houses to publish a one sided narration on Manipur violence.
PANDAM president Yumnamcha Dilip Kumar said that Athouba was sent to attend the 54th session of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) by IPSA, PANDAM, ACOMLUP, IPAK, CLK, Kanglamei, KIL and KSA with the help of the people to table a clear picture on Manipur violence.
