Imphal, October 04 2023:
In response to widely circulated social media post dated October 1, claiming one Nohgin's affiliation with it, the Kuki National Front (Zogam) or KNF (Z) issued an official press release denying the information.
Vehemently denying any connection with Nohgin, KNF (Z) said he holds no position as a commander within the Joujangtek area or any other capacity within the organisation.
In a release, the outfit said Nohgin was arrested in 2020 along with one Paokam for alleged extortion using the LTT's letterheads and firearms, demanding monetary support from NHPC Loktak Project.
While Paokam was an active member of KNF (Z) at the time, he was subsequently terminated from the organisation's membership for illegal involvement and violation of rules.
The statement stressed that KNF (Z) had no knowledge, involvement or endorsement of the said activities.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted an incident involving Nohgin in collaboration with non-SoO group, Kuki Indepen dent Army (KIA), where unauthorised possession and looting of firearms from KNF (Z) designated camp occurred.
KNF (Z) clarified that Nohgin is an active cadre of the non-SoO KIA and not affiliated with KNF (Z) in any capacity.
The statement also addressed misinformation surrounding S Malsawm and Paominlun Haokip, clarifying that they are not members or cadres of KNF (Z).
Instead, they are president and general secretary of Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Leimata Block.
KNF (Z) strongly condemned baseless accusations against innocent student leaders, and termed it as an attempt to tarnish reputation of the organisation and the two individuals.
KNF (Z) urged the media and the public to exercise caution and discretion in sharing information, emphasising the potential severe consequences of spreading false information damaging the reputation of the individuals and the organisations alike.
KNF (Z) remains committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining responsible and accurate reporting, the statement added.
