Governor stresses on speedy rehabilitation of IDPs

Indian Institute of Technology (HIT), Senapati director professor Krishnan Baskar along with Jharkhand Public Service Commission former member professor Sukhi Orean, and Dr Sarbajit and Collin called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan On Wednesday.
The team donated (cheque) of Rs 1 lakh to the Governor's relief fund to provide relief and rehabilitation for those affected by the strife in Manipur since May 3.Receiving the donation, the Governor extended gratitude to the team for their humanitarian initiative towards reaching out to the affected ones.
One Sanjay Tula, a Gujarat based Social Worker also met the Governor and highlighted the activities of his organisation christened Vishwagram in various parts of the country for children affected by natural or manmade disasters.
He expressed willingness to reach out and extend help to the internally displaced children taking refuge in various relief camps in Manipur due to the on-going ethnic clashes by providing children with trauma counselling in the form of creative activities and also to coordinate education for them.
A team of North East Peoples' Organisation (NEPO), Manipur Chapter consisting professor W Nabakumar Singh, Ch Priyoranjan Singh, professor N Mohilal Meitei, S Bhubol and Dr Kh Gourashyam also called on the Governor and highlighted their activities for harmonious co-existence of different communities in Manipur and appealed to the Governor to initiate peace process with a sole objective to restore peace and normalcy at the earliest.
The Governor lauded their efforts towards bringing peace and normalcy in the state and informed about continuous efforts from her office to sustain dialogue process to end the strife at the earliest.
Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Manipur chief patron Lt Gen (Retd) K Himalay Singh along with Manipur Branch president Satyajit Aribam and four members also handed over a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh towards the Governor's relief fund.
While conveying gratitude to the organisation for their noble gesture towards the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the Governor informed that she has extended monetary assistance and necessary items for the IDPs by visiting the relief camps in both valley and hill districts.
Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha, Manipur president who is also the proprietor of El Bike, Manipur branch expressed his desire to give sustainable job opportunity for the displaced women of both communities by donating electric vehicle with an aim for employment generation and for financial stability of IDPs.
The Governor then appreciated their efforts and said skill training is must for rehabilitation of the IDPs.
