Imphal, October 04 2023:
In a bid to prevent any unwanted incidents and to promote harmony among people of different communities, representatives of different villages under Lilong, Langthabal and Keirao assembly constituencies formed a united body of Meetei, Meitei Pangal and Kabui community under the name and style of United Tri-Community Organisation (UTCO) in a meeting held at Lilong on Wednesday.
Informing this to the media on Wednesday, secretary of the newly formed organisation Amuba Makakcha said that the organisation was formed in order to avoid misunderstanding among the communities due to rumours or propaganda amid the ongoing conflict situation in the state.
The new organisation was formed after a series of meetings so that it could act as a bridge among the community, clear misunderstanding and maintain peaceful relationship and unity as well, he said.
One of the main objectives of the organisation is to refrain from or reject any attempt to blame the whole community when any member of the community is found involved in anti-social or illegal activities.
Any issue involving any of the communities concerned would be resolved through proper dialogue to prevent any unwanted happenings, the secretary said.
In its first activity, the organisation will organise a memorial service for Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit on October 14, he said while demanding that investigating agencies handling the case recover and hand over the bodies to their family members at the earliest.
On the next day, the organisation will hold sit-in protest demanding justice for the two students and appropriate actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs, he added.
