Senapati, October 04 2023:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has warned that they will impose an indefinite economic blockade along National Highway-2 from 6 pm of October 5 if the Government fails to lift the ban on internet services by then.
In a statement, the SDSA stated that they are truly disappointed and dismayed at the extension of the internet ban, despite expressing their displeasure and grievances on the ban on mobile internet service in the district where there is no law and order crisis on September 29 .
Saying that access to the internet is not just a privilege but a fundamental right that every citizen should enjoy without interruption, the SDSA maintained that placing a ban on mobile internet services across the entire State frequently is not only unjustifiable but also infringes upon the basic rights of the people.
Urging the Government to lift the ban on internet in Senapati within 24 hours, the students association cautioned that they will impose indefinite economic blockade along Imphal-Dimapur road (NH-2) from 6 pm of October 5 .
SDSA expressed hope that the Government would promptly reinstate mobile internet services in Senapati district.
The Government must make sure that suspension on mobile internet services is not imposed indiscriminately all over the State for any isolated cases of law and order situations to uphold the rights and aspirations of the people.
